Forgot to mention this Tuesday. I received a dose of radiation while I was on the Triga tour!
So did everyone else on the tour. Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod!
Ahem.
My dose (as measured by the dosimeter I wore while I was there) was 2 microsieverts. For comparison, the background radiation in Denver (higher than the national average) is about 3.8uS / day.
So on our tour, we received a radiation dose equivalent to someone who lives in a magical radiation-free phone booth who visits Denver for one day. A single dental x-ray results in an effective dose of about 10uS.
