nothing much, and you?

The reason this blog has been largely silent for the past few weeks is that A) my shop has had no heat and more recently, B) I hurt my back somehow and the pain has been extraordinarily bad - as bad as my 2.5mm kidney stone was, and certainly worse than busted ribs.  So I've been sorta incapacimatatered for a while now.

Things are gradually improving; my back is getting better slowly, or so I tell myself, and a dead vehicle will be hauled away on Monday.  Once said vehicle has been removed, I should be able to install a new induced-draft blower in the small furnace which heats my shop, my wife's treatment room, and the garage.

In the mean time, I am watching Tim Hunkin's remastered versions of The Secret Life Of Machines, and if you haven't watched them, you should. He is still making cool and useful videos right now and you should watch those too.  I am, right now, this evening; I literally took a break in the middle of his video on chain when it occurred to me that more people need to know about this guy.

Sadly, Tim's working partner in making the show, Rex Garrod, died in 2019 at the age of 76.
