I just remembered this. Maybe it will make you smile.
A couple of years ago a friend of mine - who is in the habit of both starting up and investing in small businesses - sent me an email asking me how much I knew about 'gastro-photography' equipment and then he said it was important in the marijuana testing business... well, it took me a moment.
Now you gotta understand my buddy had heard the word spoken to him over the phone, but had not seen it in print, and since he wasn't familiar with the business at all, 'gastro-photography' was the best he could do. Can't blame him. He's not dumb, far from it - in fact, he knows loads of stuff that I don't.
Anyway, he was actually asking about gas chromatography equipment, which is used (in this case) to test the levels of THC, CBD, and CBN in marijuana products, because said testing is required by law in Colorado.
It's big business too - there are chemistry and biochem students who are dumping their intended careers and just doing lab analysis for pot - the labs are desperate for anyone who knows which end of a GC column to put the solvent in, and I guess it pays fairly well, if you don't mind doing the same mindless task forty hours a week.
Oh by the way, I've added "cannabis" as a potential topic of discussion for this blog, but I won't be doing strain reviews (much? I suppose it could come up) but rather I will discuss science, medicine, and business aspects of pot, as well as the social and economic impacts of living in the marijuana capital of the world (Denver, Colorado).
Why? Because I am a medical cannabis user myself, have been for over a decade, and there is a tremendous need for education on the topic. There are a lot of false beliefs even among experienced pot users - whether recreational or medical, and I hope what I post will help my readers to be better-informed, especially those who live in states where the issue is being debated, I hope what I offer will help folks to simply know more and therefore make more-informed decisions, especially when called upon to vote on ballot initiatives or amendments.
