I now have strong opinions about hot glue guns

Excuse me, did I say "hot glue gun"?  I meant, "hot melt adhesive applicator" of course.

So anyhow, it has arrived, shipped in the same box it was photographed in for the auction:

This here is the 3M AE-II Hot Melt Adhesive Applicator.

So far, upon unboxing, I am fairly impressed on several fronts:

  •     It just feels solidly built. Well you'd expect it to be, given that it's intended to be used 8+ hours a day in a production environment.
  •     The cord is eight. feet. long.
  •     It has a pilot light. I didn't know it had a pilot light.
  •     It has two benchtop stands, a flip-out stand near the front, similar, but much wider and sturdier, to the ones on my previous units.  But another, enormous, much sturdier stand can be plugged into the base of the handle rendering the whole thing as stable as a pyramid - nearly impossible for the tool to fall over with it installed, however it may need to be removed (it just pushes in or pulls out in a second) to get into tight corners.

I would say this is even worth the full-boat price of $100 if you can afford it, although I was much happier paying $40 + shipping.

My glue sticks won't be here until Monday, so I won't be able to report on actually using it until then.  More as it happens.

It feels weird to be jealous of someone's hot glue gun, yet here we are.
